  8. Homer, <I>seated,</I> is traditionally thought to have written the great Greek epic poems the <I>Iliad</I> and the <I>Odyssey.</I> The poems tell of events that occurred during and after the Trojan War. Many scholars think the poems were written in the 700's B.C.
